UPTET 2026 Primary Level Syllabus: Latest Exam Pattern for Paper 1

Are you planning to become a primary teacher in Uttar Pradesh? Then you must be waiting for the UPTET 2026 Notification. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has already released the exam dates for July 2026, and it's high time you start your preparation with the latest syllabus. For the first time, a One-Time Registration (OTR) system has also been introduced, making the process smoother for aspirants.

What is the UPTET 2026 Paper 1 Exam Pattern?

Before diving into the topics, you should know how the paper is structured. The Primary Level exam (Paper 1) is for those who want to teach Classes 1 to 5. It is an offline OMR-based test with no negative marking, which is a big relief for many students!

What are the Section-wise Important Topics?

The syllabus is quite vast, but focusing on these core areas will help you score 120+ marks easily. Here is the detailed breakdown:

1. Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP)

  • Child Development: Meaning, stages (Physical, Mental, Emotional), and factors influencing it.
  • Learning Theories: Thorndike’s Laws, Pavlov’s Conditioning, Skinner’s Operant Theory, and Kohler’s Insight Theory.
  • Inclusive Education: Teaching children with special needs, guidance, and counseling.
  • Teaching Skills: Communication, methods of teaching, and new pedagogical approaches.

2. Language I & II

  • Hindi (Language I): Unseen passages, Grammar (Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives), Vowels/Consonants, and Alankar.
  • Language II (Your Choice): Basics of English/Sanskrit/Urdu grammar, parts of speech, active/passive voice, and vocabulary.

3. Mathematics

  • Number System, Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication of Fractions and Decimals.
  • LCM & HCF: Basic concepts and word problems.
  • Commercial Maths: Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple Interest, and Unitary Method.
  • Geometry: Shapes, angles, and measurement (Area, Perimeter, Volume, Weight, Time).

4. Environmental Studies (EVS)

  • Family & Friends: Relationships, Food & Nutrition, Plants, and Animals.
  • Our Surroundings: Water, Shelter, Transport, and Communication.
  • Civics: Indian Constitution, Local Self-Government, and Rights/Duties.
  • Geography: Rivers, Mountains, and Forests of Uttar Pradesh and India.

Don't wait for the last date! Here is the official timeline released by the Commission:

  • Notification Date: March 20, 2026
  • Online Application Starts: March 27, 2026
  • Last Date to Apply: April 26, 2026
  • UPTET Exam Dates: July 2, 3, and 4, 2026

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

As per the latest NCTE norms and recent court rulings, you should check the detailed notification. Generally, D.El.Ed (BTC) is preferred for Primary, but B.Ed candidates can apply based on current state-specific eligibility rules mentioned in the 2026 PDF.

Candidates from the General category need 60% (90 marks out of 150), while SC/ST/OBC candidates need 55% (82.5, rounded to 83 marks).

There is no limit on the number of attempts for UPTET. You can appear as many times as you want to improve your score.
