UPSSSC Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) Recruitment 2026: 929 Vacancies Announced!
Great news for all government job seekers in Uttar Pradesh! The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has finally released the official notification for the Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) and Assistant Research Officer (ARO) Recruitment 2026. What are the Important Dates for UPSSSC ASO 2026?
The Commission has clearly mentioned the timeline in Advt No. 05-Exam/2026. You need to be very careful with these dates so you don't miss the deadline. The registration is completely online. Here are the dates you must mark in your calendar:

Who is Eligible to Apply for ASO Posts?
Eligibility is the most important part. Many students gets confused here, so read this carefully. To apply for these 929 posts, you must meet the following three conditions:
- PET 2025 Score: You must have appeared in the UPSSSC PET 2025 exam and possess a valid scorecard. Without a PET score, you cannot apply for the Mains exam.
- Educational Qualification: You should have a Postgraduate (Master's) Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Commerce, or Economics from a recognized university.
- Computer Diploma: A "O" Level diploma from DOEACC (NIELIT) or an equivalent 1-year computer diploma is mandatory.
- Age Limit: Your age should be between 21 to 40 years as of July 1, 2026. (Of course, there is age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as per UP govt rules).
How many Vacancies are there in Total?
This year, the number of seats is quite good, which means higher chances for selection. Total 929 vacancies are available for ASO and ARO (Statistics) positions. Most of these seats are for the Economics and Statistics Division of UP.
How to Apply Online for UPSSSC ASO?
Applying is easy but don't do it in a hurry. Follow these simple steps when the link activates on April 21:
- Go to the official website: upsssc.gov.in.
- Login using your PET 2025 Registration Number and verify through OTP.
- Your basic details will automatically appear from your PET data.
- Enter your Master's degree and computer diploma details.
- Pay the application fee of Rs. 25 (Yes, it's the same for all categories!).
- Check the preview and submit the final form. Don't forget to take a printout.
What is the Exam Pattern & Syllabus?
The selection will be based on a Written Main Exam. The paper usually consists of 100 marks with objective-type questions. Topics include General Hindi, General Knowledge, and a major section on Statistics/Mathematics. There is also a negative marking of 1/4th (25%) for every wrong answer, so be careful while ticking those options!
