UPPSC Mains 2025: Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming Exam

Hello aspirants! If you have cleared the Prelims and are now sweating it out for the UPPSC Mains 2025, we have some very important updates for you. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has finally released the official dates and the schedule for the Mains examination. This is the most crucial stage where your writing skills and deep knowledge will actually decide your future as an officer in UP.

When is the UPPSC Mains 2025 Exam Date?

The Commission has officially announced that the UPPSC PCS Mains 2025 will be conducted from March 29 to April 1, 2026. Earlier, there were many rumors about the dates, but now it is crystal clear. The exam will be held in two shifts daily. The morning shift starts from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the afternoon shift is from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Make sure you reaching the center at least an hour before to avoid any last-minute tension.

What is the Official Exam Schedule?

Wait, if you are still looking for optional subjects, let me remind you—Optional subjects have been removed! Now, you have to appear for 8 compulsory papers. The total marks for the Mains stage is 1500. All General Studies papers (I to VI) carry 200 marks each, while General Hindi and Essay papers are of 150 marks each. It is very important to note that GS Paper V and VI are specially focused on Uttar Pradesh General Knowledge, so don't ignore the state-specific topics.

Where to Download the Admit Card?

The admit card for the UPPSC Mains 2025 was released on March 20, 2026. You can download it from the official website uppsc.up.nic.in. You will need your registration number and date of birth to login. Please check your exam center address carefully, as the Mains exam is usually conducted only in select cities like Prayagraj, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad.

Quick Tips for Last-Minute Preparation?

  • Focus on Answer Writing: In Mains, how you present your answer is as important as what you know. Try to use bullet points and diagrams.
  • UP Special Papers: Since GS V and VI are new additions from last few years, focus on UP’s history, economy, and welfare schemes.
  • Don't Ignore Hindi: Many English medium students loose marks in General Hindi. Remember, these marks are added to your final merit!

No, there is no negative marking in the Mains exam because it is descriptive (written) type. Negative marking is only for the Prelims (MCQ) stage.
